General benefits & goals
Art offers an alternative approach for those seeking a different path to healing, either in addition to or separate from traditional talk therapy.
The goal of an art therapist practitioner is the engage both the mind and body, going beyond verbal communication.
Art can enhance cognitive function, emotional resilience, and self confidence.
No artistic skill is required to benefit from this approach - there is no right or wrong way to create.
It provides a non-judgmental, safe space where individuals can express themselves freely.
Who I am
Sandra Agate is a designer and artist with a lifetime of experience in the creative arts. At five years old, she began learning from her artist mother and later pursued a degree in Art and Design from Hartwick College. After graduating, she worked in the package design industry before founding her own successful design business. Originally, Sandra planned to pursue a nursing degree due to her strong desire to help others, but her love of art ultimately led her in a different direction. Later in life, after her children were grown, she combined her passion for art and helping others by becoming an Art Therapy Practitioner and founding Agate Therapeutic Arts.
